A miracle!

Thanks be to God – two people have agreed to join our Journey to Adulthood leadership team!

I am so happy I could cry! All summer I have been worrying about finding more leaders to work with “our” Rite 13 kids (13-14 year olds) and to help take over the program if I go to seminary next year. We invited 4 people to become involved via a formal letter that said we had prayed about them and discussed them in our Christian Formation committee meetings and that we believed them to be called to youth ministry. 2 people had already said no, and one couple had asked for one more week to think about it. I called them to follow up tonight and THEY SAID YES!!!!!

I am so so very happy and excited. This is one of those moments I hold on to, when things are going as I hoped and prayed they would…

  1. Outstanding! Since this couple really thought about it before agreeing to commit, they will probably be very good with the kids.

  2. Good for you! I agree with quotidian about the folks being genuinely committed to the kids. Are you finding a general malaise out there in volunteer church land? We definitely struggle here although part of it is I think this church does too much which tends to drain an already evaporating talent pool.It just seems even with ideal short term projects it is increasinly difficult to get folks to commit.. yet they want the programs.

  3. Couldn’t agree more, will smama…a small group of people end up trying to do everything, and apparently it’s a general problem, with an official dearth of the volunteers who used to keep so much of society running. Not sure whether I’mr relieved or distressed that it’s not just a UK phenomenon. But excellent that your prayers have been answered in this case 🙂
